Job Description

About Ohio Pests

Ohio Pests provides professional pest management services to residential and commercial customers throughout Ohio. Our commercial division supports office complexes, healthcare facilities, retail operations, warehouses, manufacturing plants, educational institutions, hospitality providers, and multi-site property management organizations.

Commercial customers often operate environments where service consistency, documentation accuracy, responsiveness, and regulatory compliance are essential. As our commercial customer base continues to expand across central Ohio, we are seeking a Commercial Pest Operations Supervisor to oversee service delivery, support field teams, and help maintain operational excellence.

Position Overview

The Commercial Pest Operations Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily performance of commercial service operations. This role focuses on technician oversight, service quality, operational efficiency, customer support, workforce development, and execution of commercial pest management programs.

Unlike a Branch Manager who oversees an entire business unit or a Commercial Account Manager who focuses primarily on customer relationships, the Operations Supervisor concentrates on field execution and operational performance.

The successful candidate will serve as a key link between commercial customers, field personnel, and branch leadership.

Primary Responsibilities

    • Supervise commercial pest management technicians.
    • Monitor service quality and operational performance.
    • Conduct field visits and service audits.
    • Support technician coaching and development.
    • Review commercial service reports.
    • Assist with workforce scheduling and resource planning.
    • Support onboarding and training activities.
    • Investigate operational challenges and service concerns.
    • Coordinate corrective actions when necessary.
    • Monitor customer service commitments.
    • Assist with commercial account support activities.
    • Participate in strategic operational planning.

Commercial Service Oversight

Commercial pest management often involves more complex requirements than residential services.

The Operations Supervisor helps coordinate services provided to:

    • Manufacturing facilities.
    • Warehouses.
    • Healthcare organizations.
    • Distribution centers.
    • Educational campuses.
    • Property management companies.
    • Hospitality providers.
    • Office developments.
    • Retail operations.
    • Municipal facilities.

Each customer may have unique service frequencies, reporting requirements, security procedures, and operational constraints.

Field Leadership Responsibilities

A significant portion of the role involves supporting field personnel.

Responsibilities include:

    • Conducting ride-alongs.
    • Reviewing technician performance.
    • Identifying training opportunities.
    • Monitoring service consistency.
    • Supporting problem-solving efforts.
    • Reinforcing company standards.
    • Encouraging professional development.
    • Promoting safe work practices.

The objective is to create a highly skilled and reliable commercial service team.

Operational Planning Activities

The supervisor helps ensure operational resources are used effectively.

Typical activities include:

    • Reviewing route efficiency.
    • Monitoring workload distribution.
    • Evaluating staffing requirements.
    • Supporting seasonal planning efforts.
    • Coordinating special service projects.
    • Managing service priorities.
    • Assisting with emergency response situations.

Strong organizational skills are critical because commercial customers often operate on strict schedules and service deadlines.

Service Quality Responsibilities

The supervisor is expected to maintain high standards throughout the commercial division.

Quality-related activities include:

    • Reviewing service documentation.
    • Conducting site inspections.
    • Evaluating customer feedback.
    • Monitoring recurring service issues.
    • Supporting corrective action implementation.
    • Tracking quality improvement initiatives.

The role focuses on preventing problems before they impact customer satisfaction.

Customer Support Responsibilities

Although not primarily a sales position, the supervisor regularly interacts with commercial customers.

Typical interactions may involve:

    • Service review meetings.
    • Operational planning discussions.
    • Escalated issue resolution.
    • Special project coordination.
    • Program improvement recommendations.
    • Service expectation reviews.

Professional communication and customer-focused decision-making are essential.

Required Qualifications

    • Minimum four years of pest management experience.
    • Previous leadership or supervisory experience.
    • Strong organizational and communication skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
    • Valid driver's license.
    • Computer proficiency.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications

    • Commercial pest management experience.
    • Operations management experience.
    • Workforce supervision experience.
    • Commercial account support experience.
    • State pest management licensing.
    • Leadership training or management education.

Key Competencies

Successful candidates typically demonstrate:

    • Leadership.
    • Accountability.
    • Technical knowledge.
    • Professional judgment.
    • Communication skills.
    • Operational planning ability.
    • Customer focus.
    • Problem-solving capability.

Performance Measurements

Performance in this role is evaluated through:

    • Service quality outcomes.
    • Technician development progress.
    • Customer satisfaction.
    • Route efficiency.
    • Documentation accuracy.
    • Employee retention.
    • Operational productivity.
    • Safety performance.

Benefits

    • Medical insurance.
    • Dental insurance.
    • Vision insurance.
    • 401(k) with company contribution.
    • Paid vacation.
    • Paid holidays.
    • Annual performance bonus.
    • Leadership development opportunities.
    • Continuing education support.
    • Company vehicle allowance.
    • Employee assistance program.

Work Environment

This role combines office-based planning responsibilities with extensive field activity throughout the Columbus metropolitan area. The supervisor regularly visits customer facilities, conducts field coaching sessions, participates in operational meetings, and collaborates with commercial service teams.

Career Development

Successful Commercial Pest Operations Supervisors may advance into Service Manager, Branch Manager, Regional Operations Manager, Commercial Services Director, or Senior Leadership positions within the organization.

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Occasional early morning, evening, or weekend work may be required to support commercial customer operations, employee development activities, or special service projects.
