Job Description

About Ohio Pests

Ohio Pests provides residential and commercial pest management services throughout Central Ohio. The company serves homeowners, property managers, healthcare facilities, offices, retail locations, and industrial clients with a focus on professionalism, responsiveness, and long-term pest prevention. As the business continues to grow, Ohio Pests is investing in service quality initiatives designed to ensure customers receive consistent, high-standard experiences across every route, branch function, and service offering.

Position Overview

The Service Quality Auditor is responsible for evaluating the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of pest management services delivered by field teams. This position conducts inspections, reviews service documentation, performs customer follow-ups, identifies process deviations, and works with operational leaders to improve overall service standards.

Rather than performing routine pest treatments, managing daily operations, or delivering training programs, the Service Quality Auditor acts as an independent evaluator of service execution. The role provides objective feedback that helps the company maintain customer confidence, improve technician performance, and identify opportunities for operational improvement.

The position requires strong observational skills, attention to detail, technical pest management knowledge, and the ability to communicate findings professionally and constructively.

What Makes This Role Different

Most positions within pest control are focused on delivering services, generating revenue, managing employees, or supporting customer accounts. The Service Quality Auditor focuses on verification and continuous improvement.

The role serves as an internal reviewer responsible for determining whether company standards are being consistently followed in the field. Success is measured by the quality of assessments, identification of improvement opportunities, reduction of recurring service issues, and overall enhancement of customer experience.

This position is well suited for individuals who enjoy evaluating processes, identifying patterns, and helping organizations improve operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled field audits of pest management services.
    • Inspect completed work for adherence to company standards and treatment protocols.
    • Review technician service documentation for accuracy and completeness.
    • Evaluate compliance with customer-specific service requirements.
    • Verify proper use of monitoring devices, treatment materials, and inspection procedures.
    • Perform follow-up visits on selected customer accounts.
    • Conduct quality reviews of residential and commercial service programs.
    • Interview customers regarding service experiences when appropriate.
    • Document findings through detailed inspection reports.
    • Identify recurring service deficiencies and emerging trends.
    • Collaborate with supervisors regarding corrective actions.
    • Recommend process improvements based on audit findings.
    • Track quality performance data and maintain reporting dashboards.
    • Participate in investigations involving customer complaints or service concerns.
    • Monitor adherence to internal quality assurance standards.
    • Support company initiatives aimed at improving service consistency.
    • Prepare monthly and quarterly quality reports for management review.
    • Assist with development of quality-control procedures and audit methodologies.

Work Environment

This position operates primarily in the field and requires regular travel throughout the Columbus metropolitan area and surrounding service territories.

The Service Quality Auditor spends significant time visiting customer locations, observing field operations, reviewing records, and conducting inspections. Administrative duties are completed from the office or remote work locations as approved by management.

Work is generally performed during standard business hours, although occasional early-morning or evening visits may be necessary to observe specific service activities or accommodate customer schedules.

The role involves frequent interaction with technicians, supervisors, customers, administrative personnel, and senior leadership.

Required Qualifications

    • Minimum of four years of experience within the pest management industry.
    • Strong understanding of residential and commercial pest control practices.
    • Excellent attention to detail and observational skills.
    • Ability to write clear, professional reports.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
    • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
    • Strong verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and maintain objectivity.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and digital reporting systems.

Preferred Qualifications

    • Previous quality assurance, auditing, inspection, or compliance experience.
    • State pest management licensing credentials.
    • Experience evaluating service performance metrics.
    • Familiarity with route-based service operations.
    • Experience handling customer concerns or service investigations.
    • Associate's or bachelor's degree in business, environmental science, biology, operations management, or a related field.
    • Experience using inspection software or field auditing platforms.

Performance Measurements

Performance in this role will be evaluated using quality-focused metrics, including:

    • Completion of scheduled audit targets.
    • Accuracy and thoroughness of audit reports.
    • Timeliness of reporting and follow-up activities.
    • Identification of actionable improvement opportunities.
    • Reduction in repeat service deficiencies.
    • Improvement in quality assurance scores across audited teams.
    • Effectiveness of recommendations implemented by operations leadership.
    • Customer feedback related to audited accounts.
    • Documentation accuracy and consistency.
    • Trend analysis and reporting quality.
    • Contribution to company-wide quality improvement initiatives.
